Kobe surpasses Jordan on the all time scoring list

With 5:24 left in the 2nd quarter of the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night Kobe Bryant made history by making a pair of free throws to give him 32,293 career points, moving him past Michael Jordan to 3rd on the all-time scoring list.  He still trails Karl Malone in 2nd by over 4000 points but passing him may still be obtainable in Bryant's impressive career.

The NBA released a video of many of Kobe's scoring milestones which is worth checking out even if you aren't a Kobe die hard.

Get that shoe outa here!

Tyson Chandler averages 1.5bpg but was unable to get one in Saturday's game against the Golden State Warriors. Unless you count the greatest shoe rejection in basketball history. That might've been the best defensive play by the Mavericks all game as they fell to the Warriors 105-98.

Nick Johnson jumps over Ramon Sessions for the putback slam

Nick Johnson may be a second round rookie for the Houston Rockets but with Dwight Howard out he's been given a larger role on the team and is using his time to his advantage. This time he soars in for the putback slam, jumping over Ramon Sessions of the Sacramento Kings in the process.

Bradley Beal with the ally-oop game winner

With the game tied at 89 with under a second to go overtime for the Wizards and the Magic seemed imminent. I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise though that the Wizards used some magic, and a magnificently drawn up play, to get Bradley Beal open for the alley-oop that gave Washington the 91-89 win. Beal be ballin.

Blake Griffin is a wizard

Down by 2 points in overtime with under 3 seconds to go Blake Griffin catches the ball off the inbounds and decides to shoot a 3 pointer. The shot hits the rim and bounces up but Griffin uses the wizard skills he gained while at Hogwarts that one year to get the ball to fall. I feel so bad for the Phoenix Suns for what happened but the league needs to start clamping down on wizardry maybe Griffin should be fined somehow for game tampering idk.

Russell rocks the rim!

Russell Westbrook is back and better than ever with this explosive move to get to the basket and slam it down. Guess  the hand isn't bothering him anymore cause he looked unstoppable on that move. With Westbrook and Durant back the Thunder look to climb out of their 7-13 hole to make the playoffs in the hyper competitive western conference.

Greek Freaking and Kembamonium

I hate myself a little for that title but I'm still going with it. Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to impress the world as he uses his go go gadget arms to extend and slam it over Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat. I don't think Bosh realized he was going up to block a partial alien before it was too late. I have Giannis on my fantasy team and although he may be near the bottom of my squad it's plays like this that keep me from trading him away.

Walker seems to be making a name for himself with game winners although this may be the first one I've seen from him that didn't come off of a step-back jumper. With 4 seconds to go and the Hornets down by 1 Kemba gets the ball outside of the 3 point line and makes a beeline (get it? hornets, beeline. God I hate myself more for that than the title) to the rim and lays it in as the clock expires giving Charlotte the 103-102 win.

Amar'e Stoudemire with the facial on Anderson Varejao

Former all-star Amar'e Stoudemire still has some pep in his step and proves it with the huge dunk over the Cavaliers centre on Thursday night. Stoudemire has been pretty unremarkable since moving to New York but every once and awhile he flashes some of what made him so deadly when he played for the Phoenix Suns. Maybe Stoudemire's wine baths work after all.

Monta Madness in Milwaukee

Monta Ellis continues being on a heater in tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Mavericks fought back after being down 9 in the 4th quarter and were even up by two with under 30 seconds to go. Brandon Knight stepped up for the Bucks however and hit a step back jumper to tie the game with 8.1 seconds remaining. I think Ellis was tired of OT games in the last week and a bit (OT vs the Knicks and 2OT the night before vs the Bulls) and made sure to hit the game winning shot with no time remaining. Ellis finished the game with 23pts 2reb and 7ast and possibly the biggest shot of the Mavericks season thus far. I think Parsons shares my sentiment.

The Hawks Kent Bazemore takes flight!

Bazemore goes baseline and stuffs in the monster slam vs the Celtics late in the second quarter Tuesday night. Bazemore went undrafted in the 2012 draft and spent time around the league on the Thunder, Warriors, and Lakers before signing with the Hawks as a free agent on September 23, 2014. Kent doesn't get much playing time for Atlanta but this can motivate a man to fight harder and jump higher as he electrifies the fans at the Philips Arena. Great display of power and leaping ability by the 25 year old.

Gerald Green can rely on himself for ally oops

There are two things you can rely on Gerald Green to do; take a "heat check" jumper after making one shot and slamming down a highlight dunk every game. Tonight when he did the latter he did it in amazing fashion. It's rare to see an off the backboard dunk and it's even rarer to see a guy throw that off the backboard dunk to himself. Green did just that and boy was it pretty. It's unfortunate that Green has said in interviews that he will never appear in a dunk contest again because he is certainly one of the most exciting high flyers in the league.

Giannis Antetokounmpo starts his layups from the 3 point line

The Milwaukee Bucks starting small forward affectionately nicknamed the Greek Freak lives up to that title with his play against the Detroit Pistons Friday night. He started his finger-roll layup from behind the 3 point line. No really. This is Giannis' second year in the league and he's shown an improvement over last season although it is still apparent when watching a full game that he has a lot of development to do before he can be an all-star caliber player in the NBA. Until then however he will be known for crazy inhuman plays like this. I want to see Giannis take off from the free throw line Michael Jordan style. Hell I bet he could stand at the free throw line fall straight forward and still somehow dunk it. The dude is all limbs and I love it.

Steph Curry shoots 3 pointers like it's 2k

Coming HOT off his 40 point night on Tuesday Stephen Curry continues his shooting onslaught against the Orlando Magic by scoring 28 points and dishing out 8 assists in just under 24 minutes of playing time. Oh and he shot 6-8 from 3 point land. No biggie. I used to play a bunch of nba2k and a common complaint about the game is how the best 3 point shooters like Curry are "broken". While this may be true for other players in the game it isn't for #30 on the Warriors. Curry is by far the best 3 point shooter playing right now (Kevin Durant is still injured and Ray Allen still isn't signed to a team) and even more remarkably he's doing so by shooting off the dribble. If you go under a screen and Curry gets more than an inch of separation he will splash a triple, it's science.

Tony Allen with the Rondo-esque fake and layup

Tony Allen put on a show Sunday night in a 107-91 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Allen uses the superb pick by Marc Gasol to get Matt Barnes off him and gets Glen Davis with the behind the back fake and lays it up and in. Davis isn't exactly the most agile or athletic big in the NBA so this move might not have worked against a slot blocker like Deandre Jordan but an exquisite move to get the Grizzlies the 2 points nonetheless.

Quite impressive but it only forced me to go back and watch this. Beautiful basketball all around.

Nate Robinson dazzles and dishes

The Denver Nuggets have struggled to start the season but Nate the Great Robinson continues his amazing style of play against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night. After some fancy dribbling to get open in the middle he fakes the pass to the man in the corner and dishes it off to Javale McGee who finishes the layup plus the foul. I wonder how much longer until the next Robinson game winner.

Jae Crowder block vs Lakers "Gimme That Shit"

In another Mavericks blowout game the benches were unloaded in the 4th quarter and Jae Crowder got a chance to play against a very middling Lakers bench. So he let some street ball loose particularly on the defensive end. He wanted people to know he had this block. And I wanted people to know this so the video below was made. Baller time at the AAC.

Pacers' Hill wins it at the buzzer

Tied at 86 in the final seconds of regulation versus the Charolette Hornets Rodney Stucky was looking to win the game but air balls the jumper. Thankfully for Indiana Solomon Hill grabs the miss and flips it over his back to beat the buzzer and win the game. Hill may have only had 6 PTs and 5rebs in his 38 minutes of play but his late game heroics give the Pacers an 88-86 victory.

Kobe Bryant hits 32,000 in win over Hawks

Kobe Bean Bryant passed another scoring milestone tonight as he becomes the 4th player in NBA history to score over 32,000 points. Kobe's last basket in a rare Lakers win over the Hawks 113-109 put him over the 32k mark. Bryant now sits less than 300 points behind number 3 on the NBA's all time scoring list Michael Jordan. The Lakers will not be making the playoffs and overall don't have much to look forward to this season but if Kobe continues to take every shot he wishes the Lakers season maybe won't be seen entirely as a loss, especially since Julius Randle's injury opening night. Jeremy Lin did play well in the win over the Hawks scoring 15pts and 10ast but it's his and the teams inconsistency that leaves the Lakers in disarray. Bryant currently leads the league in scoring with 27.3 ppg, the lone bright spot of the Lakers bleak season.

Brandon Knight 3 clutch daggers to fend off the Heat

The Milwaukee Bucks desperate to hold off a late 4th quarter run by Bosh and the Heat looked for some heroics from Brandon Knight who stepped up when they needed him most. The Bucks were up by 4 with 3:30 left in the game until Brandon Knight got hot. Knight hit a 3 pointer and Norris Cole would fire back with a 3 of his own but Knight kept feeling it as he hit another 3 on the possession right after to expand the Bucks lead back to 7. Mario Chalmers then scored a layup to bring the heat within 5 with 1:10 to go. Now with the shot clock running down for the Bucks Brandon Knight was forced to put up a tough top of the key 3 pointer that fell and sealed the deal for Milwaukee. Knight would finish the game with 20 points 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the Bucks 91-84 victory. Dwyane Wade sat out again for the Miami Heat and it seemed to cost them as Bosh shot badly making only 2-17 of his field goals. When this occurs the Heat have issues finding a consistent secondary scorer to at least provide an offensive threat the way Wade does.

Knight's hot streak begins at the 5 minute mark of the video.
